We Have a Winner for the South Africa Competition!

Martin and Camille in 1994 on their first Wayfarers Walk - in Wales!

Congratulations to Martin Begley of Oregon! Martin was the first person to correctly answer our 'South Africa Big five' Contest question correctly and wins a Wayfarers logo sunhat.

A seasoned Wayfarer, Marty plans to wear his hat on his next walking vacation with The Wayfarers in Sicily later this year. He says, " We started Wayfaring in 1994 as a reward to my caregiver (Camille) and self in surviving a bone marrow transplant after struggling with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma a couple of years. While in the hospital during that time I had read Peter Mayle’s “A Year in Provence”, in knowing I enjoyed the thought of slowly absorbing the European countryside, Camille saw a Wayfarer’s ad in Sunset Magazine; so, why not? Interestingly, nine walks later (with two more coming in October), we still haven’t done the Provence Walk. Maybe, the free one after a dozen completed? How fitting!"

Marty's correct answer to the contest question:

Q: How many and which of the Big Five can you see in the video (see previous blog post for video).

A: 1-Rhino, 7-Elephants, 1-Water Buffalo, 2-Lions, and zero Leopards!

Join The Wayfarers in South Africa in November for your chance to see some of the Big Five in their natural habitat.
